For Eric, “there really is no typical day at Stanley Black & Decker.”

As someone who thrives on challenge, variety and personal and professional growth, that’s just how he likes it.

Eric is a Technical Product Manager for Stanley Black & Decker. Explains Eric, “Ultimately, we’re trying to get more customers to buy parts and utilize our service centers.” His role has him supporting everything from end users to specific Product Service centers, all across the country – from Florida to Alaska. “I would define my purpose as helping the company grow.”

What drew Eric to Stanley Black & Decker?

Beyond the obvious appeal of working with world-renowned tool brands, right from the start, Eric could see growth opportunities on many levels. “Growth has several meanings to me. Growing personally and professionally. There’s always lots to learn. There are things we can do better. There are other categories to try to tackle.” Adds Eric, “I’ve learned quite a bit about power tools and just business in general. I’ve definitely become a much better person.”

Among the ways the company has fueled his growth and expanded his interests...

“I’m co-chair of communications for the Asian Heritage Network. The employee resource group (ERG) allows you to grow beyond your typical job title and gets me out of my comfort zone, which I consider a good thing.” What’s more, says Eric, it’s an ERG that “brings everyone together, where an engineer could meet somebody in marketing – so a lot of networking opportunities.”

What does Eric like most about working at Stanley Black & Decker?

“The company fosters an environment of learning,” attests Eric. In the course of his career with the company, he has taken full advantage of an array of learning opportunities – from Stanley Black & Decker University (SBDU) online courses and the Makerspace to the ERG network and financial support to obtain his masters. “The culture is very interactive, very diverse.” And with tenured teammates – some having 30+ years of experience – Eric continues to gain from the benefit of shared knowledge. “The camaraderie I’ve developed through that has made my Stanley Black & Decker experience that much more rewarding.”

Growth has several different meanings to me – growing personally and professionally. There’s always lots to learn, things we can do better and other categories to tackle.
