John is Chief Human Resources Officer at Stanley Black & Decker where he oversees global human capital strategies and operations, including talent attraction and development, labor relations, compensation and benefits, engagement strategy and communications to enable the long-term success of the company’s strategy with a focus on people and culture.

John has over 35 years of HR experience, serving the last 10 years as CHRO for global multinational companies in the Fortune 50 and Fortune 150, including Lockheed Martin and Goodyear. He also held senior HR roles at Microsoft, Kodak and Merck. Most recently, John founded True North Human Capital Consulting, LLC, where he provided counsel to Fortune 200 and private companies across all areas of HR, including institutionalizing best-in-class HR programs and establishing global talent management systems. Under John’s tutelage, 22 former direct reports are currently or have held CHRO leadership roles, and his HR teams have routinely been recognized among Fortune’s Most Admired for HR.

John holds a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from St. Francis University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington and Jefferson College.
