Effective January 1, 2026, certain electronic products manufactured by Stanley Black & Decker and Stanley Industrial & Automotive, LLC, through its Mac Tools Division’s (collectively, “Stanley Black & Decker”) sold by retailers in California will be required to include a Covered Battery-Embedded Product Recycling Fee. This fee is mandated by Senate Bill (SB) 1215, which updates California’s Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 (the “Act”). Covered battery-embedded products, defined under Section 42463 (f)(1), are subject to a waste recycling fee under Section 42464(b) which retailers are responsible for collecting at sale. The Act provides a comprehensive system for the reuse, recycling, and disposal of covered electronic devices.

Additional information relating to the fee and its collection for covered battery-embedded products may be found at SB 1215 Covered Battery-Embedded Products – CalRecycle Home Page.
