Internships - Ben Green

Ben Green
Mechanical Engineering Intern

“Stanley Black & Decker is a fast-paced company, and you’re held accountable for projects. It’s unique because you get to work on large-scale projects that matter and it’s also an environment where, even as a young person, you can teach other employees a lot.”

Before starting his 10-week internship experience at Stanley Black & Decker, Ben admits he expected to be doing a lot of busy work.

“But in reality,” he said. “I was involved and working on projects I never expected to be doing at my level. And the company has such an inclusive culture. From the very beginning I felt like I was just like anyone else in the company and I was given the experience of a full-time employee.”

As a member of our engineering team, one of Ben’s projects was to design a test to gain a data-driven understanding of what makes a better hammer. His results and test methodologies directly supported the development of the company’s Next Gen Hammer program. He also worked as part of an innovation team and helped develop a product and then pitch its value before a panel of leaders in a Shark Tank-style presentation.

Ben said his advice to future interns is to absorb as much as you can during the 10-week program and to “just put yourself out there.”
