FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THE WORLD™
Determined, fearless and on a mission. Ever since she suffered a serious spinal injury as a result of a car accident at the age of 16, inspirational racing driver Nathalie McGloin has been committed to helping others who have endured similar life-changing experiences – and is dedicated to making motorsport for everyone.
Allowing nothing to stop her from achieving her ambitions, two years ago, Nathalie created “Spinal Track”, a charity that offers people with disabilities the opportunity to take part in unique track experiences in a specially adapted vehicle. These exciting events give people the freedom to try something they may never have believed they could accomplish, all within an inclusive and supportive environment.
“I’m passionate about helping people and hope to inspire others. Nothing should stop you getting the most out of life.”
Nathalie McGloin
At the end of 2017, Nathalie was asked to become President of the FIA Disability and Accessibility Commission – becoming the youngest, and one of only two female FIA Commission Presidents. In this brand new role, Nathalie’s goal is to shape the global future of motorsport by allowing and encouraging more participation by people with disabilities. In 2018, she will have given 25 people with a disability a new skill of learning to drive a race car on track.
About Nathalie McGloin
Following the car crash that caused her devastating injury, Nathalie spent many, many months in recovery. Undeterred by this major setback in her life, this courageous sportswoman overcame countless challenges to pursue a career in wheelchair rugby, followed by her first foray into the thrilling world of motorsport. In 2015, she became the first woman with a spinal cord injury to be granted a UK racing license, and the only female tetraplegic in the world to compete professionally. Nathalie can be seen regularly racing against able-bodied drivers at circuits around the UK.
“My relationship with my car is quite emotional. When I’m behind the wheel, I feel free. I’m no longer disabled… I’m me without my injury…”
