Over the decades, the world has seen considerable progress in gender equality – although, there is still a great deal of work to be done to achieve a true gender balance in the workplace.

At Stanley Black & Decker, we believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to create an inclusive culture where all employees can progress and flourish.

We are determined to create a culture of equality that unlocks potential for everyone. A workplace environment where all employees, at all levels of the business, can advance and thrive, regardless of background or gender.

Discover how we highlight, promote and celebrate women around the globe >

Across our global organization, Employee Resource Groups bring together employees to support one another, raise important issues and drive positive change. Through our Women’s Network, women are provided with resources such as mentoring, professional development and the opportunity to work in different countries and business units, sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Over the upcoming months, we will embark on new and exciting initiatives with through our partners to progress, to highlight, promote and celebrate women around the globe.

United Nations #EqualEverywhere Initiative

Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and, therefore, also half of its potential. Gender equality, besides being a fundamental human right, is essential to achieve peaceful societies, with full human potential and sustainable development. Moreover, it has been shown that empowering women spurs productivity and economic growth.

United Nations

As an active participant in the United Nations #EqualEverywhere campaign, we’re raising awareness of the need to address gender parity around the world and to make strides in supporting women and girls in STEAM careers. We’re thrilled to have our brand partners and allies join forces to shine a light on this topic. The best part is they will be participating in this initiative in support of International Women’s Day.

Paradigm for Parity

We recently joined Paradigm for Parity, a coalition dedicated to addressing the leadership gender gap, with the aim of achieving gender parity in our workforce by 2030. Stanley Black & Decker has committed to a 5-Point Action Plan that includes increasing the number of women in senior operating roles and basing career progress on business results and performance, rather than physical presence in the office.

New Britain Museum of American Art Collaboration

Our history with the New Britain Museum of American Art dates back more than a century, and we are delighted to be working with this iconic institution to celebrate female makers, creators and innovators and showcase the work of talented female artists, both past and present. In partnership with NBMAA, there will be events and digital campaigns that will highlight talented women artists.

greenlight for girls (g4g)

We will continue our ongoing partnership with greenlight for girls (g4g), a global organization that encourages women and girls into STEAM education, to pursue careers in engineering, manufacturing and technology – sectors where women have traditionally been greatly under-represented. Our partners at g4g are running year-long programs with special events and activities to make the initiative come to life.

FC Barcelona Women’s Team

In collaboration with our partners at FC Barcelona Femení who share the same goal to develop the next generation of female leaders, we will team up on to support future initiatives that empower young females to succeed.
