Tenure at Stanley Black & Decker: 4 Years
Describe your SLP experience in one word.
What is your lasting impression of being an SLP?
Being an SLP gave me a stronger base to build my career on than I ever could have had without it. That base consists of four different finance jobs and five career-development trainings within two years. Starting a career with that type of development puts you ahead of where you would be without it. It also provides you with a network that takes others years to build.
What is one interesting fact about Stanley Black & Decker that people might not know?
Stanley Black & Decker is very people driven. We have Facebook for work. We have affinity groups. We have significant internal promotions seemingly every other week. This company wants its employees to succeed and provides them with the tools to do so.
What was the highlight of your SLP experience?
Experiencing new cities. I lived in Indianapolis and Charlotte for the first 18 months of my career here and would never have experienced those cities without being a part of the program.
What is your advice for future SLPs?
Be open to challenge and change. Make every role your own and strive to make a change. However, do not change things for the sake of change. Find places where you can add value and excel there.
How does the SLP Purpose, FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THE WORLD EMPOWERED TO SUCCEED THROUGH LEADERSHIP, speak to you?
To me, it means always do the right thing. As a company, we are all "For Those Who Make The World." As a program within that company, we strive to do it the right way by taking initiative and working with the highest degree of integrity.
