Product Development Engineer
As part of our Stanley Leadership Program, Tyler spent three months of the two-year program in Giessen, Germany. There, he worked with the systems group to develop cost-saving measures for SPR systems and learn the German engineering culture.
"It was truly an incredible experience," he said. "It is the best program possible to start your career. You are able to learn with other like-minded people who want to go above and beyond."
Now, Tyler is working with our STANLEY Engineered Fastening group, where he is a product development engineer working on the plastics line with the Ford Motor Company team to develop plastic fasteners all the way through production.
"At Stanley Black & Decker, you get to learn multiple roles within one position – I’m learning about manufacturing, product development and quality engineering every day," he said. "And I have driven people around me who make me want to work even harder. It’s incredible the level of passion people have about the future of the company."
Tyler, who studied mechanical engineering in college with a concentration in biomedical engineering, said Stanley Black & Decker has rewarding experiences away from the office, too. Tyler recently volunteered at a pet adoption event held at the Detroit Zoo. He’s also spent time helping to organize a carnival for the local Boys and Girls club.
"I love to attend these events with my coworkers," he said. "The company supports us spending time giving back, and it’s just so rewarding to see the results."
