A Message from John Lundgren

Our customers buy our products for many reasons, but mainly because our brand name means quality and they trust it. Consumers know that if they buy a Stanley Black & Decker product or service, they have bought the best, and it has been this way for as long as anyone can remember. Our brands are a familiar face in a rapidly changing world. We are like home. We are part of the community.

Wherever we make products, wherever we sell products, we have a responsibility to the community. We are obligated to make the community a better place in which to live and work. Our Guiding Principles are our pledge to the community and to the world. They are our commitment to go the extra mile, to make sure we have considered all aspects of our operations, to make sure that all of our decisions are made in such a way as to support the needs of communities in which we operate and the world in which all of us live.

The principles that guide our complete operations are consistent with the longstanding vision and values for Stanley Black & Decker as a whole. They are part of our everyday life here in Stanley Black & Decker.

Sincerely,

John F. Lundgren
President & CEO
Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.

Guiding Principles

  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) laws and regulations as the minimum acceptable level of behavior.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Reduce workplace accidents and injuries by researching, implementing, and institutionalizing injury reduction practices.
  • Operate within a sound environmental and safety management system that defines our commitment, establishes accountability, sets performance targets, and monitors our progress.
  • Recognize and reward those who exceed expectations and take immediate remedial action where we fall short.
  • Go beyond compliance by adopting an aggressive waste minimization program: committing ourselves wherever feasible to material reuse and waste recycling instead of disposal. Whenever practicable, minimize or eliminate the use of hazardous materials in our products through material substitution.
  • Commit to a continual improvement process. Strive to learn and implement best practices.
  • Embrace sustainable practices in daily operations to maximize stakeholders benefit to our environmental-economic-social bottom line.
  • Evaluate all potential environmental impacts to conserve energy and water, preserve our natural resources, prevent pollution, and utilize environmentally friendly materials and processes in the manufacture and packaging of our products, and operation of our plants.
  • Share with our community, suppliers, and customers the best practices we learn along the way.
  • Ensure that our suppliers providing goods and services share our same values on health, safety, social, and environmental performance.
